MODULE INFORMATION

Week 1

Week 1 we went through the module information for this module and after that a briefing on each of the assessments that we will be undergoing which is all related to sound and audio modifications. Here's a summarized list I have written in regards to it:

_______________________________
Module Information: Disccused on how the whole modules assesment is broken down into 4 parts, exercise, project 1, project 2 and final project while posting the submission via our blog

Project 1
Scenario: A person wakes up, brushes his teeth, gets prepared walks down the stairs with an umbrella in hand *opens the umbrella* opens the door and walks outside with the umbrella in hand, goes to his car *opens door* and starts the engine and drives away to his work place/school.

Project 2
Fairytail story: Can use any script and storyboard in the world (eg disney) main point is we have to narrate it and add in sound effects to the story.

Final Year Project: Game Audio: Given by lecturer *No background music*

Week 2

Exercise 1

We tested a website called Audio Notch to examine our hearing capabilities from 0kHz to 20kHz whereas when I try to check out how well I could hear the frequency, I could see that I was able hear from the half way point of 16-20kHz and past it, I wasn't able to hear anything (average point of a males hearing capabilities whereas for a women, they are able to hear to the 20kHz point)

Adobe Audition demonstration
Frequency Adjustment
Equalizer (Consists of 6 bands *points in a frequency*)

Objective: Sync EQ1 EQ2 and EQ3 with flat audio

The results I have come up with are as follows:

Headphone: Steel Series
Software: Davinci Resolve

Week 3

Exercise 2

For this week, we were told to change up the equalizer of the sample voice given by our lecturer and tune them into different variations consisting of: Telephone, Closet and Walkie-Talkie with their process and audios presented:

Headphone: Steel Series
Software: Davinci Resolve

Walkie Talkie

Telephone

Closet

Next up, we started using the reverb effect setting using the same sample voice given to tune them into other variations which were: Bathroom, Supermarket announcement and Stadium announcement.

Here is the process of setting and audio results I have come up with:

Week 4

Exercise 3

Next up, we were told to match the audio (created through our own imagination) of two of the image environments given to us which were Sci-fi themed image & Military Lab -esque themed.

Week 5

For this week, it was held online due to sir being away from the country, so hence we explored the multitrack management using Adobe Audition and a briefing for the for auditory imaging project.

After that for our next and coming up project, we were given a variety of different scenarios to choose from as per for our auditory imaging project and the one givens are:

1- Market + Rural Atmosphere + Background
2-.Wildlife + Background
3- Weather + Background
4- Everyday Home Life + Background
5- Cities + Transport + External Atmosphere
6- Industry and Electronic Sounds + Background

Week 6

From the given background combinations, I settled on Everyday Home Life + Background. Here is the script and duration I have set out for this project:

Duration: 2 minutes 30 seconds

Storyboard:

As the morning begins, I wake to the soft beeping of my alarm clock. Groggily, I step onto the wooden floor and pull open the blinds, letting the morning sunlight flood the room. The faint chirping of birds and the distant hum of traffic mix with the rustling leaves outside. I head to the kitchen where the radio plays a light tune. I clink dishes and cutlery, fill the kettle with running water, and listen to the toast pop from the toaster. The gentle sizzle of the frying pan fills the room, accompanied by the aroma of breakfast. I pour coffee and stir it gently, enjoying the morning ritual.

I move to the living room where the TV murmurs with the morning news. I flip through a newspaper, type on my laptop, and hear the light footsteps and the rustling of my pet’s collar as it moves around. The morning activities blend into a comforting routine, with familiar sounds creating a cozy atmosphere.

As the day progresses, I start the washing machine, which hums and swishes rhythmically. I vacuum the floors and fold clothes, sighing softly as I go about the chores. The sound of the vacuum is loud and steady, eventually giving way to the softer, repetitive swish of the washing machine. The household sounds create a harmonious background to my daily activities, making the morning feel complete and fulfilling.

Week 7

Week 9

This week we were briefed on our upcoming project that is on Auditory Story telling due week 11 with pointers for which ways we could implement our storytelling better. After that we checked on the essentials of audio cleaning techniques that can be used consisting of Noise reduction, Compressor, Effects-Dynamic Panel as well as Adaptive Noise Reduction that consists of components like Threshold, Attack, Ratio, etc.

After that, we were taken in the Mass Communications studio room where audio production comes into life. We saw the different kinds of tools like the mic, integrated mixer w the desktop, soundproof muffler's around the room and another room where the production takes place which have seats in the area.
